This courses teaches the basic skill and attitude necessary to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family and to provide information on the law-abiding individual's right to self defense. It is designed for students who already have acquired a level of experience with a firearm. This can be demonstrated by providing a certificate from the NRA for the Basic Pistol Course or other such training certificates.
Time: This is an eight hour course and does include range time.
Dress: Whatever you are comfortable in for the classroom. Bring what you need depending on the weather for firing at the range. For the firing portion, you should wear long pants, shoes that cover all, a baseball hat or other hat that will still allow you to wear hearing protection, and a long sleeve shirt. This is designed to protect you from any hot brass from you or your neighbors while firing. You will also need eye protection. If you wear glasses, make sure they are rated to provide protection. You should have a long sleeve shirt as well in order to protect yourself from hot brass.
Bring: Your firearm and 100 rounds of ammunition for your weapon. Bring at least two magazines. For the classroom, bring something to take note with.

We provide: All course materials and targets. We also provide lunch, beverages, and refreshments. Students will also receive the NRA handbook on Personal Protection in the Home, NRA Safety Rules brochure, and a course completion certificate.
